Hello. If you look up the definition of the word "Trunk," you will find amongst its meanings:

Please, note definition number 4.

Trunk: a large box with a hinged lid for storing or transportation clothes and other articles.

That is precisely what our shop is like: a trunk full of goodies for riders, mostly for woman. At the "BRAMMOTO Trunk Show," we cater to female riders, mostly in Northern New York state, showcasing and selling clothing that was created by either a woman or a family-owned small business, apparel that is stylish, protective, and that fits in our busy lives.

Think of our "trunk show" as a little biker boutique. But since BRAMMOTO, as a business and a brand, came from the way we live our "in-between" time, it was essential for us to set it as a small family operation.

In other words, it had to fit in with our lifestyle, respecting the reality of our geographical location, our job schedules, and our parenting responsibilities.

We also wanted to make it kid-friendly so that Vince can take part in shows and trips.

Check out the making of our "trunk show" in the video below.

FULL CYCLE

by Gabi

In the early 1900s, my great-grandfather arrived in Brazil from Lebanon to build a new life. He settled in the countryside of SĆ£o Paulo State, where he began to sell household goods and sewing materials. He traveled from farm-to-farm, with his merchandise in a buggy.

Later the family established a brick and mortar place in the city. Years passed, and the new generations went on to more academic careers. And even thou, I don't remember the year the family store closed its doors, I am one of the few in my generation who got to take naps under the store's countertops.

Fast forward to a new millennium, and here I am: like my great-grandparents I too migrate from my home country to build a new life. In 2019, not only I established this business, but I also finished my naturalization process, becoming an American citizen; and I am selling goods in a traveling show.

Can life be more beautiful than this?

Our family has a 1964 #Honda Dream - 305cc. It belonged to Barret's Grandfather Mr. Parker, who bought it back in the day as his commuting vehicle. Later, in the 90's, he passed the bike to Barret, who rode it for years before upgrading to a bigger bike.

1998: Gabi posing with the Dream in Catskill, NY

All these years, 55 to be exact, "The Dream" has been here for us. It was Barret's first ride; it was my first ride; and mostly likely it will be Vince's. I've actually been posing on this motorcycle since before Barret and I were even a couple.

Anyway, to celebrate it's 55th Anniversary, and to help us cope with the ridiculous Northern New York winter, we finally took the step of putting the bike in the shop and tearing it down for a full restoration/customization.

And since this is such an unique project (keep in mind Barret is a pharmacist, and I am a journalist), we decided to make use of this beautiful platform called the internet, to share our experience.

The Dream Project

As much as we want to keep the antique look of this bike, we also agree that some parts make it look heavy and old. This is why besides restoring it, we will customize some parts.

In the end, we hope to have a nice looking, and a reliable bike to take on longer trips, to shows, and, of course, get Vince on it when he comes to age.

You can follow us as The #DreamProject comes along on our YouTube channel at BRAMMOTO . The series is called "The Dream Project" and we already have 3 episodes out.

The complete playlist for the #HondaDream re-built on our YouTube channel.

If you, like us, have your shop time and like to take on projects like this, leave us a comment or suggestion. We are looking forward to connect with other riders/customizers around. Just remember we do it as a hobby, and a way to stay connected doing something we both like and are passionate about.

2021 update: We started this blog in 2016, to share some of our rides, connect with other people who, like us, loved motorcycles, and love motorcycling with their family. Here's to our original post. šŸ„‚

2016:

It's been six amazing years. Now .. if only the north country weather would let us ride a little longer.

An American guy and a Brazilian gal sharing our love for the open road and all the twists that life presents. We are professionals, we are parents, we are friends, we are lovers, and we are motorcyclists (tacky but all true). We found a deeper way of connecting by sharing a hobby and the freedom of the road.
